Michael Porter Jr aiming to be Nuggets’ best pick ever
The Denver Nuggets ended Michael Porter Jr’s draft-day slide, and he’s planning to reward them as best as he can.
Porter, who was one of the top prospects in the country entering college, slid to No. 14 in the draft, likely due to teams being concerned about his back injury. Denver decided they couldn’t allow him to get past them, so they made him their choice.
“I’m so excited. My path is a little different from everybody else’s, but I’m going to make sure that this pick is the best pick that this organization has ever made,” Porter Jr. said during an interview with ESPN.
Porter also said that he is feeling good and expecting to play in the summer league.
Porter underwent back surgery after getting injured in Missouri’s first game. He did not look the same after returning, and teams had more concerns after he cancelled a predraft workout. Perhaps the Nuggets’ risk and patience will pay off.
