Anthony Edwards has managed to get himself un-suspended for Sunday’s massive regular season finale.
The NBA announced on Saturday that they are rescinding a technical foul that was issued to the Minnesota Timberwolves star Edwards the night before during a game against the Brooklyn Nets. Edwards was T’d up by referee Ray Acosta in the second quarter of the contest after protesting a foul call against him (video here).
Crew chief Bill Kennedy told reporters after the game that Edwards was given the technical foul for directing profanity at Acosta. However, the NBA has now decided to reverse course on the T after a postgame review.

The call on Edwards had major implications since it was (originally) his 18th technical foul of the season. Players are automatically suspended for one game after reaching 16 technical fouls in a season, and then get another one-game suspension for every two technicals beyound that.
Edwards already served a one-game suspension for his 16th T back in February. But fortunately for him, he will not have to serve a second suspension this season for technicals accrued (which reset in count come playoff time).
That is enormous news for the Timberwolves, who need to win their regular season finale on Sunday against the Utah Jazz in order to avoid the play-in tournament. At No. 7 in the West, Minnesota will also need some additional help in the standings to get into the top six. But at least they will have Edwards around on Sunday to try to take care of business on their end.
