A former NBA Finals piece is headed to the ninth team of his pro career.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the Sacramento Kings are close to a deal with veteran forward Jae Crowder. The 34-year-old Crowder, who had been unsigned to this point of the year, will be getting a chance to continue his NBA career in Sacramento.

Crowder is a 12-year veteran who started on two separate NBA Finals teams in the last half-decade (the Miami Heat in 2020 and then the Phoenix Suns in 2021). He spent last season on the Milwaukee Bucks, posting 6.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in a modest 23.1 minutes per game.

Though Crowder has been known as a bit of a malcontent in recent years, his profile as a 3-and-D dirty-work guy should be useful in Sacramento. The Kings are just 8-10 this season and recently had top backup forward Trey Lyles go down with a calf injury, so Crowder may be able to slot right in.
