A one-time NBA forward has suffered a gruesome injury while playing overseas.
Ex-Orlando Magic player DeQuan Jones was playing Tuesday in the Philippines for the NLEX Road Warriors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). During the third quarter against the TNT Tropang 5G at Gameville Central Park in Mandaluyong City, Philippines, Jones was driving to the basket and collided with TNT center Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser.
In a throng of bodies, Ganuelas-Rosser hit the deck and fell with his entire body weight onto the right leg of an also-airborne Jones. The television broadcast showed Jones down in total anguish on the court with his right foot and leg seemingly bending the wrong way.

Jones was eventually stretchered off the floor with his leg covered by a towel (as NLEX went on to defeat TNT in overtime by a final score of 118-11). The Manila Bulletin reports that Jones was subsequently diagnosed with a complete fracture of his lower leg.
The 36-year-old Jones was undrafted out of the University of Miami (Florida) and signed with the Orlando Magic, where he played from 2012-13. He then went onto a lengthy career in the G League (where he was the 2018 G League Slam Dunk Contest champion) and overseas, including first signing in the Philippines with NLEX in 2024.
