Nick Young accused of hitting fan in genitals, stealing his phone

Nick Young hasn’t made many headlines on the court this season as he looks for another team to sign him, but he is generating some interest from the Los Angeles Police Department in the wake of an alleged assault and robbery.

According to a report from TMZ, police are investigating Young as a suspect in a robbery after a man says the free agent guard struck him in the genitals and stole his cell phone. The man said he is a basketball fan who recognized Young at a popular LA car wash on Jan. 4 and tried to take a photo of him, and he acknowledged that Young did not want to be photographed. When the fan decided to take the picture anyway, he says Young hit him in the groin and took his phone.

No arrests have been made, but police are still investigating the alleged incident.

Young was signed by the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 10, but he appeared in just four games before being waived 20 days later. While there’s a good chance some team will need a shooter before the end of the season, the allegations against Young may make it even more difficult for him to find work. He previously appeared to try pitching himself to one of his former teams on social media, but that may be a tougher sell now.
