Pat McAfee entered into a partnership with ESPN over a year ago, but he apparently still needs the internet’s help finding an NBA analyst for his show.
In a lengthy social media post on Wednesday, McAfee wrote that “The Pat McAfee Show” is looking to hire an NBA analyst. He said he did not envision that finding a paid contributor would be difficult after he signed a deal with ESPN, but he is now seemingly scrambling for help.
McAfee indicated he would prefer the expert be a former NBA player.
“I need an NBA expert(s) for the progrum … not everyday … just someone to FaceTime periodically thru the season. I will pay, because I pay everybody for their contributions to our show,” McAfee wrote on X. “Obviously.. when licensing our show thru ESPN, we thought it’d be easy to get NBA folks from the ESPN roster.. That has not been the case.. The @ESPNNBA crew has been rather impossible to work with due to their daily scheduling during season.. afternoons are TOUGH for the entire group.
“Sooooo … Which ex-NBA players do you think would be a great representative of the Association on our dumb– show?”

McAfee has a good relationship with Shams Charania, who has made regular appearances on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Ironically, those appearances might become more infrequent now that Charania has been hired by ESPN and probably has more on his plate than ever.
With McAfee’s popularity seemingly growing by the day, we would be surprised if he is unable to find a solid personality to contribute on the NBA front.
