Stephen A. Smith is once again getting mocked for flubbing a name on the air, this time a member of his beloved New York Knicks.
In an appearance on “SportsCenter” Wednesday, Smith discussed his expectations for the Knicks next season following the hiring of Mike Brown as head coach. Smith said he expects to see the Knicks back in the Eastern Conference Finals next season, citing their top seven players all returning.
Smith rattled off the list of those players, but referred to reserve guard Miles McBride as “Michael McBride.”

This is probably a slip of the tongue on Smith’s part, but it’s hardly the first time he has gotten a name wrong. He has even done it before on social media, where he cannot blame a slip of the tongue for any errors.
Making matters worse is the fact that Smith is a self-proclaimed Knicks fan, but he is still prone to getting basic facts about them wrong.
Arguably the most amusing part is that McBride is not necessarily a key player for the Knicks. He is a significant part of the bench, but he averaged 24.9 minutes per game and saw his playing time decrease late in the season under former coach Tom Thibodeau. Perhaps that will change under Brown and Smith will be less likely to get his name wrong.
