Steve Kerr broke and threw a clipboard after Warriors’ lackluster first quarter
Steve Kerr has high standards for his Golden State Warriors, and when they don’t reach them, he’s not afraid to show it.
After Golden State posted just 18 points in the first quarter against the New York Knicks on Sunday, Kerr broke his clipboard and then threw it, according to Draymond Green.
“He broke the clipboard, then threw it,” Green said, via the game story by the Associated Press’s Brian Mahoney.
“Coach Kerr got on us pretty good,” said Klay Thompson. “He was very animated on the sideline and we responded well to it. He told us we were playing very embarrassing and just to pick it up.”
The Warriors did, indeed, pick it up, and ended up winning the game by 21 points, scoring 37 points on 14-of-17 shooting in the second quarter following the outburst. As Green said, this isn’t exactly a rare outburst from the coach.
“You’d be surprised,” Green said. “He expects perfection and we’re never there.”
Well, we already knew Kerr can party pretty hard, so is it really a surprise that he’s also prone to the occasional moment of intensity on the sideline, too?
