Video: Gordon Hayward suffers scary injury to same leg he previously broke
A little over four years after his gruesome injury with the Boston Celtics, Gordon Hayward is getting another scare to the same leg.
The Charlotte Hornets swingman suffered a frightening injury against the Toronto Raptors on Monday. As Hayward was going up to contest a Gary Trent Jr. layup, Trent accidentally took out Hayward’s left leg while Hayward was airborne. Here is the video.

Fortunately, Hayward was able to limp off to the locker room on his own. But the Hornets quickly ruled him out for the rest of the game with what they called a left ankle sprain.

If you recall, Hayward suffered a fractured left tibia and dislocated left ankle during a game in 2017 when he was with the Celtics. That injury kept him out for an entire year.
This season with the Hornets, Hayward is averaging a solid 16.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. But the ankle injury that he suffered on Monday, which already looked worrisome enough on its own, might be especially concerning given Hayward’s prior history with that leg.
