Chris Haynes of ESPN reported on Saturday that Myers recently addressed the team at a shootaround to share his concern about their growing number of technical fouls. Haynes also adds that Myers, who usually addresses them every dozen games or so to talk team events or other lighter topics, suggested that their excessive bickering with the referees this season could be affecting their overall performance on the court.
Indeed, the Warriors have racked up 39 technical fouls this season (second-most in the league) as well as nine ejections (an NBA high). Starting forwards Draymond Green (a league-leading 14 Ts) and Kevin Durant (tied for second-most with 11) have been particular offenders, and even head coach Steve Kerr has picked up four technicals on the year.
The Dubs have often taken their beef with the refs off the court as well, and maybe that helps explain why they are “only” 43-13 on the season as opposed to 47-9 at the same point of their championship-winning 2016-17 campaign.
