Report: Zion Williamson had ‘positive meeting’ with Pelicans
There has been a lot of talk about Zion Williamson being disappointed that the New Orleans Pelicans have the first overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, but it sounds like the reports the night of the draft lottery were exaggerated.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Williamson had a “positive meeting” with the Pelicans this week. Not only that, but he indicated before the draft that he believes New Orleans would be a good place to begin his NBA career.
Sources: Zion Williamson met in Chicago with the New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies, the top two teams in the Draft lottery. Williamson had a positive meeting with New Orleans and prior to lottery, he cited Pelicans as a targeted team to start career.

Many people think Williamson wanted to play for the New York Knicks, and he supposedly had a negative reaction when the Pelicans were unveiled as the team picking at No. 1. Even if Williamson was hoping to wind up in New York, it likely won’t be long before he gets used to the idea of playing in New Orleans.
One thing is for sure — Pelicans fans could not be more excited to root for Williamson next season and beyond. The amount of tickets they sold after the draft lottery made that pretty clear. Williamson should feel plenty welcome with his new team.
