Floyd Mayweather: Adrien Broner was an alcoholic

Adrien Broner Floyd Mayweather

Regardless of what Adrien Broner may say, the beef between him and Floyd Mayweather is very real.

Mayweather Promotions is putting on a show in Washington D.C. that is being headlined by Broner and Ashley Theophane. Broner and Mayweather have gone back-and-forth multiple times over the past months, but things really came to a head with Mayweather ripping Broner.

In an interview with FightHype, Mayweather called Broner an alcoholic and “always broke.” He did not hold back.

“Adrien Broner, his nickname is ‘The Problem.’ I think he has a lot of problems. Adrien Broner was just an alcoholic six months ago. One thing I’m trying to find out about Adrien Broner, is he a boxing promoter, is he a rapper, is he a porn star, or is he a gangster? Like I said before, ‘The Problem’, that’s what Adrien Broner likes to call himself, if I’m not mistaken. The problem that he really needs to focus on is his problem in Cincinnati. We’re talking about ‘The Problem’, Adrien Broner. He still got Maidana problems that I had to solve for him. We heard him talking about that he wanted to fight Shawn Porter again. Why, when you lost 11 rounds? You only won the 12th round.”

Mayweather also responded to Broner cleverly calling Floyd’s company “Hateweather Promotions.”

“He said ‘Hateweather Promotions’; I’m still trying to find out what ‘AB’ stands for. Always broke? I mean, that’s what I thought AB stands for. Last year, I think Leonard made more money than Adrien Broner. He gave himself a 10-figure name: About Billions. We know he ain’t never seen eight figures or nine figures. He’s barely seen seven figures. It could be safe to say that just one of my cars costs more than he made in his whole career.”

On top of all that, Floyd called Broner a free TV fighter rather than a pay-per-view star.

And to think, these two used to be close and Floyd actually used to back Broner with positive encouragement. What a difference some time makes.
