Oscar De La Hoya looks at Canelo Alvarez

Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez got heated at Wednesday’s press conference promoting Alvarez’s scheduled fight against Jaime Munguia.

De La Hoya spoke during Wednesday’s press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. While speaking, De La Hoya, who promotes Munguia, told Alvarez to put some f—ing respect on the De La Hoya name.

Alvarez threw some Spanish curse words back at De La Hoya in response. You can watch in the video but beware of the bad language.

Alvarez previously was promoted by De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions until going through a bitter split. Alvarez now has his own promotion company, which is helping to put on Saturday’s fight with Munguia.

In further comments to the media, Alvarez continued to drop F-bombs on De La Hoya.

We talked to @Canelo after the press conference about @OscarDeLaHoya and he had stronger words for him: “If he came closer, I’d fuck him. He’s a fucking asshole. He tried to steal money from his fighters. He tried to steal money from me… Fucking motherfucker, son of a bitch.” pic.twitter.com/9K0DJ2NLb6

They may have animosity toward each other that is genuine, but both Alvarez and De La Hoya have been in the fight game for a long time. They know how to best sell a fight.

Alvarez and Munguia are fighting as part of a large pay-per-view card at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) is putting his super middleweight world title on the line against the 43-0 Munguia.
