Bill Raftery looked like he was about to have a panic attack as he sat courtside for the drama-filled ending to Sunday’s Duke-UConn NCAA Tournament game.
1-seed Duke was just 10 seconds away from making the Final Four over 2-seed UConn when disaster struck the Blue Devils inside Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. With Duke trailing by two, freshman guard Cayden Boozer committed a costly turnover that led to one of the most iconic shots in Huskies history courtesy of Braylon Mullins.
The UConn freshman drained a near-40-foot jump shot that hit nothing but net to give his team the 73-72 win. The wild sequence of events left CBS announcers Raftery and Grant Hill speechless. Raftery in particular looked like a man who had just witnessed an ungodly crime occur right in front of him. He arguably did (of the basketball variety).
Here’s another view.

Unapologetically.
Cannot get enough. pic.twitter.com/gOvzP6sbLx
It took Raftery several seconds before he could gather his wits enough to speak. He was clearly just as shell-shocked as every fan in the arena.
The legendary color man has seen some of the NCAA Tournament’s maddest moments over the years. Sunday’s game gave him another one to tell his grandkids about, if they weren’t watching already.
