Dan Hurley on Tuesday made sure to remind a few Creighton fans about his coaching accolades.
The UConn men’s basketball head coach led his team to a 70-66 upset win over No. 24 Creighton at CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Neb. The Bluejays led 37-23 with just over three minutes left in the first half. But the Huskies battled back in the second half, outscoring their opponents 41-29 to secure a 4-point victory.
Some Creighton supporters stayed well after the final buzzer to chirp at Hurley. Not one to back down from a fiery exchange, Hurley mockingly waved goodbye to the fans and repeated a line reminiscent of Klay Thompson.

“Two rings! Two rings!” Hurley said while gesturing at his ring finger.
Hurley was referring to the two rings he won during UCon’s back-to-back NCAA title runs over the last two seasons. The scene looked similar to Thompson’s talking trash to Devin Booker during a Golden State Warriors-Phoenix Suns game two seasons ago.
The Warriors star eventually expressed his regret over the incident. It’s hard to imagine Hurley doing the same.
The Huskies rode a red-hot Liam McNeeley to mount their comeback against the Bluejays. The UConn freshman went off for a career-high 38 points and 10 rebounds on 12/22 shooting.
