Indiana Hoosiers will play 2016 game at Pearl Harbor
Indiana will play a basketball game at Pearl Harbor in 2016 as part of the Armed Forces Classic, according to a report.
The Honolulu Star Advertiser reported in December that there would be two games played on Nov. 11, 2016, at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam as part of the Armed Forces Classic. The games will take place less than a month before the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, which led the US to enter World War II.
The Indianapolis Star reported on Friday that the Hoosiers have signed a contract to be one of the participants. No teams have been announced.
The games reportedly will be played in a hangar.
The Armed Forces Classic began in 2012 and sees college basketball teams play at a military base. This year’s game will feature Rick Pitino coaching against his son in a matchup between Louisville and Minnesota at the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen in Puerto Rico.
