Fans felt little sympathy for a pair of Twitch streamers who got kicked out of their seats during Saturday’s Iowa-Illinois NCAA Tournament game.
Streamers Lacy and Sketch were taken aside by security at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, after they were spotted live-streaming the game on the popular streaming platform Twitch. Lacy argued that they were not streaming the game itself but rather their own experience while watching from their $5,000 seats. He added that he had been streaming himself at various March Madness games this year, but had never been confronted before.
The arena personnel informed the pair that the decision was coming straight from the NCAA, which was barring them from streaming the game. You can watch the exchange below.

Fans added insult to injury online, piling on the two internet personalities for trying to bend the rules.
Well yea, you have to have a broadcasting license to broadcast the game. Welcome to adulting.

They knew the rules. They decided they were above that and found out they weren’t.

It’s unclear if the pair chose to surrender their cameras and return to their seats or if they continued their live stream and left the premises.
If it’s the latter, the two would have missed a thrilling Iowa-Illinois game that saw both teams trade blows until the Fighting Illini pulled away in the end for a 71-59 victory.
