Report: Lack of degree makes Jason Kidd ‘longshot’ for Cal job
Jason Kidd left school early to go pro when he was playing for Cal in the 1990s, and that may end up ruining his chances of coaching there for the moment.
According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Kidd has a way to go before securing his degree, making him less likely to be able to land the Cal job. Goodman also notes that Kidd would prefer NBA coaching opportunities to collegiate ones anyway.
Sounds as though Jason Kidd has a ways to go to get his degree, making him a longshot to be able to get involved in the Cal opening, source told @Stadium. Kidd’s preference is to get back into the NBA, and his name has been tied to Lakers (if/when Walton is out).

It had previously been reported that Kidd topped Cal’s list, but there are definitely growing issues there. His lack of degree may force Cal to look elsewhere, and we keep getting hints that he is more intrigued by other opportunities anyway.
