Kyle Guy has tattoo on leg of David and Goliath
Those watching the National Championship Game between Virginia and Texas Tech on Monday night likely noticed a tattoo on Kyle Guy’s thigh that was visible while he was playing. Only a small piece of the artwork showed through the bottom of his shorts, but you’re in luck, because we have a full shot of what it looks like.
Here’s the tattoo thanks to a photo the Virginia star shared on Instagram in 2017 when he got the ink done:
The tattoo is of a tiger with its mouth open. Inside the mouth is an image of David standing on top of Goliath.
So what’s the significance of the tattoo? Guy explained in a letter he wrote to himself, as shared on 247 Sports.
“You’ve been an underdog your entire life, or in other words, your whole life has been full of Goliaths. You were always smaller and skinnier than everyone you played against, never passing the ‘eye test.’ But just like David, you have conquered all of your Goliaths, despite everyone telling you, much like they told him, you would fail. That’s why you have a tattoo of David standing over Goliath on your thigh; you carry that wherever you go and you never forget it.”
Never underestimate a player who has a chip on his shoulder as Guy does.
