Papa John founder has switched fandom from Louisville to Kentucky

Papa John

John Schnatter, the founder of Papa John’s Pizza, appears to have switched fan allegiances in a major way.

Schnatter was seen attending Tuesday’s Kentucky-LSU college basketball game in Lexington. He was notably wearing a blue shirt with the UK logo on it:

What makes this significant? Schnatter was a huge supporter of the University of Louisville, a major rival for Kentucky. Papa John’s Pizza is headquartered outside Louisville, Louisville’s football stadium was formerly named Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, and a center at the business school was named for Schnatter. His name was removed from both and he stepped down from Louisville’s board of trustees amid a scandal last year. Schnatter’s relationship with Louisville’s athletic department also grew strained in 2017.

Between all these factors, maybe the pizza magnate has a new favorite college team.
