Florida defeated Houston in a thrilling NCAA Tournament national championship game on Monday night, and one of the most famous Gators in history was impressed with the performance.
Florida overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half to beat Houston 65-63 in the title game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Cougars had plenty of time to get a potential game-tying or game-winning shot off, but they blew the opportunity with a brutal mistake.
Tim Tebow was among those who enjoyed the dramatic finish. The former quarterback gave his alma mater a shoutout via social media.

“What a game! So resilient. As always go gators,” Tebow wrote on X.

Florida closed out their season with 12 straight wins dating back to March 1. They dominated several nationally ranked opponents while winning the SEC Tournament last month before surviving some scares in the NCAA Tournament.
The Gators played from behind in both of their Final Four games but never lost confidence. They were trailing by 8 at halftime against Auburn on Saturday night but ended up prevailing.
Tebow, of course, won national championships with Florida in 2006 and 2008. That was around the same time the Gators’ basketball team won back-to-back national titles in 2006 and 2007. Tebow and other prominent alumni are happy to see Florida back on top.
