After it was initially announced that an ill Baker Mayfield would miss Rose Bowl Media Day, the Oklahoma Sooners quarterback made an appearance for the tail end of the events.
Mayfield said he decided to make an appearance because, in watching the proceedings, he felt it unfair that everyone else had to answer questions about him and his status.
Baker Mayfield said he was watching the Media Day and got tired of everyone talking about him and asking players and coaches about him. "It's not about me," he said. "I don't want everyone answering questions on my behalf."-

Mayfield has the flu, and according to reporters in the room, he certainly sounded like it.
Baker Mayfield sounds hoarse. He said he's sick and has been coughing and doesn't have a ton of energy. "I'm not dying but I'm not feeling 100 percent right now," he said.

It sounds like this report about Mayfield’s health certainly has some validity to it. There is no way he won’t be playing in the College Football Playoff semifinal, though.
