Braxton Miller NFL draft prospects get big boost

Braxton Miller receiver

Braxton Miller’s position switch from quarterback to H-Back/wide receiver could turn out to be one of the most brilliant moves of the offseason.

After recovering slowly from a 2014 shoulder injury, Miller decided to switch positions to make the most of his final season playing for Ohio State. Not only did he alleviate a confusing quarterback situation for the Buckeyes, but he also likely boosted his NFL draft prospects. Some scouts immediately said the move would help his prospects. And Miller wasted no time showing off his impressive skills in Ohio State’s season opener against Virginia Tech.

His first catch was of the diving variety:

Then in the third quarter he showed off great balance by completing a catch and taking it to the end zone for a score:

Miller making the move from QB to WR would not be unusual. Not only is former Buckeyes star QB Terrelle Pryor in the middle of the transition, but players like Julian Edelman and Josh Cribbs both were college QBs who had successful NFL careers as receivers/returners.

When his position change was first announced over the summer, an NFC scout told CBS Sports that the move was beneficial to Miller.

“We currently have two grades on him, one as an “athlete” and one as a quarterback,” a NFC scout said. “The grade of him as an athlete is much…better. Because that’s when he’s at his best – with the ball in his hands.”

Miller is on schedule to give his draft stock a serious boost this season. We’re guessing he’ll be a 3rd or 4th-round pick.
