Chase Young hinted recently that he may return to Ohio State for his senior season, but the star defensive end confirmed on Friday what many people expected — he is heading to the NFL.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Young announced that he will declare for the NFL Draft. He thanked Ohio State and Buckeyes fans for an “amazing three years.”
Young said leading up to Ohio State’s game against Clemson that his plan was to return to Columbus for his senior year, but that was likely his way of trying not to become a distraction ahead of the College Football Playoff. Reports all along have indicated he would be turning pro after the season, and there was never really a doubt.
Young is considered to be the best defensive player in the draft, and it is unlikely that he will fall out of the top three. He could even go as high as No. 1, though it would be a surprise if the Cincinnati Bengals passed on the opportunity to draft Joe Burrow.
