ESPN is making a big change to its college football broadcasts

The first broadcast for ESPN in the 2026 college football season will be on Saturday when North Carolina and TCU face off in Dublin, Ireland.

However, a big change is set to take place. ESPN will no longer show the BottomLine ticker during college football games, according to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports.

“ESPN is getting rid of its BottomLine ticker during college football games, the network confirmed to Front Office Sports,” Glasspiegel wrote.

The ESPN network had already made the change for major sporting events, such as the College Football Playoff games and other big events like NBA and NHL postseason contests.

Now, this change will take effect for regular season games on ESPN, along with games shown on ABC, ACC Network, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, and SEC Network.

ESPN released a statement regarding the decision to take away the ticker.

“We’re always looking for ways to better serve sports fans. By removing the BottomLine during live action, we’re creating a cleaner presentation that keeps the focus where it belongs—on the field,” an ESPN spokesperson said in the statement.

CFB Kings’ X account also showed a photo of what it would look like now compared to what it looked like in the past.
