Kansas running back Pooka Williams was a breakout star in his freshman season with the Jayhawks this year, but 2018 is ending on a sour note for him.
Dylan Lysen of the Lawrence Journal-World reports that Williams was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of domestic battery. He was booked by the Kansas University police, and no bond was set.
Kansas coach Les Miles said the team is taking the allegations seriously and has suspended Williams indefinitely.
“We are aware of a reported incident involving Pooka Williams and we are taking these allegations very seriously,” Miles said. “We have suspended Pooka from all team-related activities pending further investigation.”
Williams, a freshman, was one of very few bright spots for the 3-8 Jayhawks this season. He rushed for 1,125 yards and caught 33 passes for 289 yards, scoring nine total touchdowns. He was expected to be a big part of the Kansas offense next season in the team’s first year under Miles, but that is now up in the air.
