The LSU Tigers are playing in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday night, which is a huge deal around Baton Rouge. It’s such a big deal that LSU announced they are cancelling class on Monday and Tuesday so fans can enjoy the big game (and hopeful celebration) the following day.

You can talk all you want about misplaced priorities and too big of a focus being placed on sports, but we’ll respectfully disagree. Schools are also about building and fostering communities. If everyone is united about this school event, which can bring them tremendous pride, it’s worth celebrating. And if students already were going to be unfocused anyhow, probably not much learning was going to get done.
LSU faces Clemson and will be looking for its fourth national championship in school history.
