Mack Brown has 1-word response to question about his future at UNC
Mack Brown fueled speculation that he might be on the verge of retirement when he was frustrated earlier in the season, but the North Carolina coach has now confirmed he wants to return in 2025.
Brown was asked by a reporter on Monday if his intention is to continue coaching at UNC beyond the current season. The 73-year-old responded with a firm “yes” but said he is focused on the Tar Heels upcoming game against rival North Carolina State.
Brown also said he has not discussed his future with North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham.

Brown is under contract through 2027, but the school has yet to make any public statements about his future.
Following a 70-50 loss to James Madison earlier this season, Brown told players he was willing to walk away if that would be best for the team. Though he did not deny making the comments, Brown later said he had no intention of retiring in the middle of the season and had been trying to hold himself accountable for an embarrassing loss.
North Carolina fell to 6-5 with a 41-21 loss to Boston College on Saturday, but they are still bowl eligible. Brown is in the sixth season of his second stint at UNC. The former national champion has taken the Tar Heels to bowl games each year, though they have lost the last four.
