PJ Fleck and Charlie Strong are among the candidates for the Cincinnati Bearcats’ head coaching job, according to a report.
Tommy Tuberville resigned from his position as head coach on Sunday after his fourth season on the job. After going 9-4 two seasons in a row, Tuberville went 4-8 this season and had this incident with a fan.
The Bearcats were looking to act swiftly in the matter before missing out on some candidates. The Cincinnati Enquirer’s Tom Groeschen says Fleck, Strong and Jeff Brohm are their top three candidates.
UPDATE: #UC will target Jeff Brohm, P.J. Fleck and Charlie Strong as top 3 candidates to replace Tuberville, sources say.

Can confirm that Cincinnati has already reached out to Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm.

Cincinnati needed to reach out to Brohm quickly, as he has become a hot candidate. Brohm interviewed for the Baylor job and reportedly has been offered the head coaching job at Purdue. Brohm has gone 8-5, 12-0, and 10-3 in his three seasons at Western Kentucky.
Fleck has Western Michigan at 13-0 and going to the Cotton Bowl. Strong was recently fired by Texas after his third season on the job. This is the first vacancy to which Strong has been connected.
Cincinnati’s program has done well over the past 10 seasons, and they’ve been a hot bed for up-and-coming coaches. Mark Dantonio, Brian Kelly and Butch Jones all had success there before moving on to other programs after three seasons. The Bearcats will look to recreate that magic with their next hire.
