Tua Tagovailoa re-injures knee on touchdown run

Tua Tagovailoa

Tua Tagovailoa appeared to re-injure his right knee on a touchdown run in the third quarter of Saturday’s game against LSU.

The Alabama quarterback rushed for a 44-yard score to give his Crimson Tide a 22-0 lead in the third quarter. Tagovailoa was able to make it to the end zone untouched, but he was limping after the TD. CBS’ replay seemed to show he may have even hurt himself when turning around in the end zone after scoring.

The sophomore quarterback pointed to his knee after scoring and was received help from a teammate off the field. He went into the medical tent afterwards, though he was back on the field for the team’s next possession.

Tagovailoa also injured his groin in the first quarter and missed a play before returning.

Tagovailoa has been dealing with a sprained knee since early October, though he recently said he is 100 percent. That doesn’t appear to be true, though Tagovailoa at less than 100 percent is still good enough to beat probably every team in the country.

Jalen Hurts recently had surgery on his ankle, leaving Mac Jones as Bama’s backup quarterback.
