USC Trojans head coach Clay Helton has insisted he feels like he has job security, and he expressed the same sentiment on Saturday night even after a loss to Notre Dame.
Helton’s Trojans finished 5-7 after losing 24-17 to Notre Dame. He said after the game that he still has the support of athletic director Lynn Swann and the USC administration.

Clay Helton said Lynn Swann told him, "There are better days ahead."
There would be if he got fired but that sounds like he stays #USC— InsideUSC (@InsideUSC) November 25, 2018
Helton went 5-4 as an interim head coach in 2015. He went 21-6 over the following two seasons, both with Sam Darnold at quarterback. This season’s 5-7 record has fallen well below USC’s standards, which has left fans calling for his job.
USC fans will not be happy about this outcome if Helton keeps the job.
