Cappie Pondexter Suggests Japan Deserved Tsunami Disaster
The good side of Twitter can be very good. Fans get a chance to interact with their favorite athletes and celebrities, breaking news can be delivered as quickly as possible, and communication is generally made easier. The bad side, however, can be extremely bad. Just ask someone like New York Liberty star Cappie Pondexter, who made an insanely ignorant comment on Twitter about the tsunami in Japan.
“What if God was tired of the way [the Japanese] treated their own people in [their] own country!” NESN informed us she tweeted on Saturday. “[I don’t know] guys he makes no mistakes.”
When a few of her followers tweeted her to let her know how wrong what she said was, Pondexter made things even worse.
“u just never knw! They did pearl harbor so u can’t expect anything less,” she tweeted to a user who had called her out.
This certainly isn’t the first time an athlete has made a fool of them self on Twitter. Remember this gem and all the others from Chad Ochocinco? Still, Pondexter should keep her views to herself if that’s really the way she feels. Saying something like that after what happened is the definition of ignorance. I doubt she’d feel that way if one of her family members was over in Japan.
Naturally, Pondexter apologized — via Twitter — after being crucified from every angle. We won’t even share with you what she said. Once you say what she said, does it really matter?
