AJ Green has not practiced since he suffered an ankle injury over the summer that required surgery, but the star receiver was finally able to return to the field on Thursday.
Green was spotted at practice with a helmet and pads on, though Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com noted that he was expected to be no more than a “very limited” participant.
Looks like A.J. Green is going to practice on a very limited basis today for first work since July 27. He’s got helmet and pads

Green is not going to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but that means he is making progress. He could return as early as Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. At the very least, it would now be a surprise if Green is held out through Cincinnati’s Week 9 bye.
While the Bengals are off to a 0-5 start and clearly not heading for the playoffs, the big story surrounding Green will be whether or not he is auditioning for a potential trade. The NFL trade deadline is Oct. 29, and there has been talk that Green could be on the move. The 31-year-old told Hobson this week that he hasn’t heard anything about being traded but is “prepared for anything.”
