Allen Hurns agrees to one-year deal with Dolphins

Allen Hurns

Allen Hurns expressed disappointment in the way his time with the Dallas Cowboys ended earlier this week, but it did not take the wide receiver long to find work elsewhere.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Hurns has agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins that is worth up to $3 million.

Hurns was released by the Cowboys on Tuesday, and he criticized them for waiting until just days before training camp began to ask him to take a pay cut. He was originally scheduled to make $4 million in base salary for 2019 with the potential to earn up to $6 million with incentives, but Dallas reportedly asked him to lower that number to $2 million.

Hurns dislocated his ankle and suffered a broken leg in the Cowboys’ playoff win over the Seahawks on Jan. 5, but that didn’t stop the team from exercising his contract option back in March. The 27-year-old caught 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns last season, which was his first and only with Dallas. He spent the first four years of his career with the Jaguars and experienced a breakout 2015 season that included 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Dolphins are hoping to get something closer to the 2015 version of Hurns.
