Allen Hurns is disappointed with the way the Dallas Cowboys handled his release.
Hurns was released by the team on Tuesday, a day after he says the team asked him to take a pay cut. He says he wishes the team had approached him about the pay cut/release sooner so he could have had more time to find a new team ahead of training camp.
Just spoke with #Cowboys WR Allen Hurns on today’s release. He’s understandably disappointed saying “I’m good. Just wished they did this earlier, they asked me for a pay cut Monday. Couple days before camp.”

According to NFL Media’s Jane Slater, Hurns was asked to accept a $2 million salary for the upcoming season rather than the $4 million base salary he was set to earn (with the potential to reach $6 million in incentives).
What offer did #Cowboys put on the table for WR Allen Hurns Monday? A source informed told me they offered 2M this year down from the 6M he was set to earn in 2019. For clarity, 4M was his scheduled base, 2M was incentives which I’m told was going to be hard to reach.

Hurns dislocated his ankle and suffered a broken leg in the Cowboys’ playoff win over the Seahawks on January 5. Despite the injuries, the Cowboys exercised his contract option in March. Hurns is recovering well and told Slater he had no limitations entering training camp.
The 27-year-old caught 20 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns last season, his first with Dallas. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jaguars and experienced a breakout 2015 season that included 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns.
