Like most other NFL players who are given the franchise tag by their teams, Alshon Jeffery would prefer to sign a long-term contract. Is the star receiver going to hold out in an attempt to get the Chicago Bears to give him one?
Nope.
Jeffery showed up to minicamp on Monday and told reporters he is happy to be back.

The Bears have until July 15 to try and work out a long-term deal with Jeffery. If nothing gets done by then, he can either sign the one-year, roughly $15 million franchise tender or hold out.
From the team’s perspective, a one-year deal makes perfect sense for the 26-year-old. Jeffery appeared in just nine games last season because of injuries. When healthy, he is one of the best receivers in the game. If he can stay on the field for a full 16 games, the Bears will be more inclined to sign him to a long-term extension next offseason.
