The Miami Dolphins have been clearing large salaries and star players this week, and they may not be done.

The Dolphins have engaged in trade talks surrounding safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz. It is unclear which teams are interested in Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick, 29, is a three-time All-Pro and one of the game’s most accomplished safeties. He played in 14 games last season for Miami with 82 total tackles and an interception.

The big issue for the Dolphins is likely Fitzpatrick’s salary. He carries a cap hit just shy of $19 million for next season, and Miami is taking the chance to reset their organization and clear cap space where possible. The team already has committed a lot of money to players who will not be on their roster, and might have to eat even more money to move Fitzpatrick.

The Dolphins hired a new general manager in Jon-Eric Sullivan and a new coach in Jeff Hafley this offseason. The two are clearly not wasting any time in putting their stamp on the organization, even if it means some big names are being shown the door.
