Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was already held out of Sunday’s opening week victory over the San Diego Chargers, and he might not be ready for Week 2 against the Houston Texans either.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Monday that, though the three-time All-Pro back is making progress, he doesn’t know if Charles will be able to play next Sunday, per Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star.

The Texans were a top-10 defense against the run last season, and backup Spencer Ware looked like a star against San Diego, rushing 11 times for 70 yards and a touchdown and also factoring heavily in the passing game with seven catches for a whopping 129 yards.
Charles is still recovering from a right ACL tear suffered last October, so there doesn’t appear to be much motivation for the Chiefs to trot him out there next weekend if he isn’t at 100 percent yet.
