Antonio Brown’s agent shares thoughts on uncertain offseason

Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown is facing an uncertain future with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the wake of his Week 17 benching, but his agent insists he is not all that concerned about it.

With reports swirling that the Steelers are likely to trade Brown in the coming weeks or months, agent Drew Rosenhaus said during an appearance on 7 Sports Xtra in Miami Sunday that both he and Brown are prepared for any outcome.

“I’m just gonna say that Antonio is a great, great player – a tremendous competitor, a great teammate,” Rosenhaus said, as transcribed by Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Whatever happens this offseason, we’ll make the best of it. I don’t have any particular comment on what the Steelers may or may not do. Antonio has had a Hall of Fame career there, and we’ll be ready for whatever happens next.”

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported over the weekend that it is highly likely that the Steelers will trade Brown before March. A lot has been made of the dead cap hit the Steelers would incur if they traded Brown, but that has been overstated. If Pittsburgh can find a team that is willing to take on Brown’s salary, a deal seems almost certain.

Brown’s relationship with head coach Mike Tomlin and some of his teammates appears to be damaged beyond repair. All indications have been that Brown does not care to repair those relationships, either.
