Many around the country woke up Monday to mine to news the video of Ray Rice knocking out wife Janay Palmer had been released by TMZ. A few hours later, Rice found himself released by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended by the NFL indefinitely.
Between the video going viral and subsequent decisions by the Ravens and NFL, there was no shortage of reactions by current and former players. Most of the words were harsh and strong.
In Baltimore, a restaurant is making a statement of its own. Hersh’s Pizza and Drinks has decided to give away free pizzas in exchange for Ray Rice jerseys.
“It’s kind of like a gun buyback,” co-owner Stephanie Hershkovitz said via the Baltimore Business Journal. “We thought it would be a great way to express our disgust at the whole thing.”
Hersh’s will also donate $2.70 for each jersey received to the House Of Ruth MD, one of the nation’s leading domestic violence centers.
As ESPN’s Darren Rovell shared, atleast 40 jerseys have already been received.
