The barber who gave Ben Roethlisberger a haircut and beard trim that was on display in a video released by the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback on Monday released a statement defending his actions.
Carlos Norman, who owns Norman’s Cuttin’ Edge Barber Shop, issued a statement through his attorney on Tuesday. The attorney says Norman’s barbershop has been closed and that Norman cut Big Ben’s hair as a friend, without charge.

Norman was likely moved to issue a statement after Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf was asked about Roethlisberger’s haircut during a Tuesday press briefing.

The haircut came as part of a hype video showing that Roethlisberger was back and throwing passes after undergoing elbow surgery in September. Roethlisberger, 38, only played in two games last season.
