Ben Roethlisberger talked things out with Martavis Bryant, says WR ‘paid his dues’

Ben Roethlisberger

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is still awaiting word from the NFL on whether or not he will be fully reinstated, but at least he has patched things up with his quarterback in the meantime.

Ben Roethlisberger told reporters on Wednesday that he has spoken with Bryant, who said last month that he was frustrated with some of the things Big Ben had said about him publicly.

“It was a good one,” Roethlisberger said of the chat. “If he wants to expand on it, he can. I will not. … We were never really off the same page. It appeared that way to outsiders, but between us there was never really an issue.”

Bryant, a former fourth-round pick out of Clemson, was suspended for all of last season. That followed a previous four-game suspension in 2015 for a substance abuse violation.

When Bryant was suspended last summer, Roethlisberger said the receiver lied to his face about his drug violations. Bryant said a few weeks ago that he was bothered by Roethlisberger airing the grievance publicly.
