Bengals QB Matt Barkley suffers Grade 3 MCL sprain
The injury news is in on Matt Barkley.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback suffered a Grade 3 MCL sprain during Thursday night’s preseason game against the Colts, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
#Bengals QB Matt Barkley, who had impressed this preseason and had a good shot at the No. 2 job, suffered a grade 3 MCL sprain, source said. Bad news. A candidate for Injured Reserve, potentially to return at some point in 2018.

Barkley was 0-for-3 in the game before suffering the injury. His departure allowed Jeff Driskel and Logan Woodside to see extended action.
Barkley, 27, was slated to serve as Andy Dalton’s backup, so now it looks like Driskel will move up to that spot. Cincinnati may want to address the position if Barkley needs to go on IR.
