Brandon Aiyuk officially holds out from 49ers minicamp
One San Francisco 49ers offensive weapon received some good news on Tuesday, but things are not going as smoothly for another.
The Niners on Tuesday signed running back Christian McCaffrey to a 2-year contract extension. The team also has begun its mandatory minicamp, and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was not present on Tuesday.
Aiyuk is subject to fines from the team for missing camp.

Aiyuk holding out from 49ers minicamp is not surprising. He has been expressing dissatisfaction with the team all offseason and has sought a trade.
The 26-year-old receiver was a first-round pick by the 49ers in 2020 and is due to earn $14 million in 2024 under the final season of his rookie contract. Aiyuk caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns last season. His receiving yards total marked a career-high amount.
Aiyuk reportedly views Amon-Ra St. Brown’s contract as a benchmark, which means he could be seeking to earn around $28 million per season.
