Bucs sign Nick Folk as competition for Roberto Aguayo

Roberto Aguayo

It’s time for Roberto Aguayo to start looking over his shoulder.

A year after making him a second-round pick in the draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers brought in competition for Aguayo by signing kicker Nick Folk, according to FOX’s Peter Schrager.

After a stellar career at Florida State, Aguayo seemed to get mentally shaken by the hype following his elevated draft status. He went 22 of 31 on field goal attempts and missed two extra points. His longest kick was from 43 yards.

Aguayo was particularly shaky over the first two months of the season as he made just seven of 12 field goals and missed both of his extra points. He began to settle down as the season progressed, but he was 1 of 3 in the team’s final game of the season.

Folk was 27/31 last season for the New York Jets and is an 81.3 percent kicker for his career. He was recently released by the Jets.
