Carson Wentz drums up free agent interest with creative Instagram post
Carson Wentz is still unsigned despite the start of the NFL season being just a little over a month away. The free agent quarterback did a good job reminding people about that.
Wentz posted photos of himself on Instagram that showed him wearing a variety of clothing from his former teams. He was wearing a Philadelphia Eagles helmet, Washington Commanders practice jersey, and Indianapolis Colts shorts.

“Back in the lab … just looks a little different so far this year,” Wentz’s caption said.
That was a very good way of reminding people that he is still available.
Wentz was the No. 2 overall pick by the Eagles in 2016. He made the Pro Bowl and played at an MVP-level in 2017 before suffering a torn ACL. Nick Foles famously came in and played great as his replacement, leading the team to a Super Bowl win.
Though the Eagles kept Wentz for three more seasons, the 30-year-old never quite played back to his MVP form. The Eagles moved on from him after his poor 2020 season during which the team went 3-8-1 with him as the starter.
After his Eagles career, Wentz played one season each with the Colts and Commanders. For his career, Wentz has gone 46-45-1 as a starting quarterback. That more or less tells the story of Wentz: he is a mediocre quarterback who can show flashes of excellence but balances that out with flurries of turnovers.
Teams may be satisfied with their current quarterbacks, but expect Wentz to be one of the free agent quarterbacks called upon once teams start suffering injuries at the QB spot.
