Chargers see big jump in ticket sales for 2019 season
The Los Angeles Chargers are finding more success with ticket sales heading into the 2019 season than they did a year ago, and they can only hope the increased interest has to do with supporting them rather than their opponents.
The Chargers will be playing their third and final season at the 27,000-seat Dignity Health Sports Park before they move to Inglewood next year, and Arash Marzaki of the Los Angeles Times noted on Thursday that they have seen a 220 percent increase in ticket demand from a year ago. They are currently one of the Top 10 hottest tickets in the NFL.

While that is good for revenue, it may not be indicative of the Chargers’ picking up more fan support in LA. Markazi also pointed out that two of their home opponents this season are the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, whose fans tend to travel well. The San Francisco 49ers — who also host the Packers and Steelers this season — are in the top 10 as well.
Chargers players have complained that their home games feel like a road environment, and that is largely a product of the team moving out of San Diego. Unfortunately for them, it seems unlikely to change in 2019.
