Report: Chip Kelly wanted to trade for Colin Kaepernick at his next NFL job
The San Francisco 49ers hiring of Chip Kelly may prove to be great news for Colin Kaepernick.
Kelly is reportedly a fan of Kaepernick, and according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, was eyeing him for his next job, and thanks to Kelly’s hire, the quarterback may yet have a future in the Bay Area.
As he plotted potential moves & his next @NFL stop, Chip Kelly was trying to figure out how to trade for/sign Colin Kaepernick. No need now.

#49ers GM Trent Baalke sat down with Colin Kaepernick before the season ended. That olive branch may prove incredibly valuable going forward

It had previously been assumed that Kaepernick’s days in San Francisco were numbered, and he was benched for Blaine Gabbert during the season, but Kelly’s arrival sounds like it may change that. He fits the mold of the type of quarterback Kelly wants, and it sounds like the new Niners coach is a fan and may just elect to keep him after all.
