Report: Colin Kaepernick wants to play for Browns
The Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers are reportedly working on a trade, and Colin Kaepernick is hoping the deal goes through.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter Friday morning that Kaepernick “wants” to play for the Browns and “respects” new head coach Hue Jackson.
Someone actually wants to play in Cleveland? That has to be a first.
The 49ers are said to be talking trade with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets in addition to the Browns. Reports have indicated that Kaepernick is Denver’s top target now that Brock Osweiler has signed with the Houston Texans, but it is starting to sound like the Browns have the upper hand.
It should be noted that contract negotiations between the Broncos and Osweiler reportedly broke down over Osweiler not wanting to play in Denver. John Elway hinted at that when he made these comments after Osweiler signed in Houston, so does that mean he no longer wants Kaepernick, either?
At this point, it sounds like Kaepernick “wants” to play anywhere but San Francisco. He may like the idea of playing for Jackson, but his agent has reportedly asked the Niners to seek a trade. While this isn’t the first time Kaepernick has been linked to a specific team, the feeling is that he just wants a fresh start somewhere.
