Cowboys sign former 1st-round pick
The Dallas Cowboys have signed a former first-round pick.
The Cowboys on Tuesday signed two players from the UFL — cornerback Gareon Conley and linebacker Willie Harvey. Conley is best known to fans for being a first-round pick (No. 24 overall) by the Raiders in 2017. The former Ohio State cornerback spent two and a half seasons with the Raiders and was traded to the Houston Texans in 2019.
Conley has been playing with the DC Defenders of the UFL since Dec. 2023. Conley played in 15 games in the 2018 season and had 37 tackles and 3 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. He has not played in an NFL game since 2019.

The more consequential signing for Dallas could be Harvey.
The Cowboys worked out Harvey last week and have decided to sign the St. Louis Battlehawks linebacker.
Harvey led the UFL with 78 tackles this season, and added four sacks.
Harvey appeared in two games for the Cleveland Browns in both the 2019 and 2021 seasons. He has two career tackles across his four NFL games.
The Cowboys have had success looking to spring league players in recent years. They have previously signed Brandon Aubrey and KaVontae Turpin of the USFL, and both became special teams Pro Bowl players.
Dallas is hoping that Conley and/or Harvey will work out well for them too.
